Sources
Sources allow you to update live data. There are two types:
Webhook
With the webhook source, you can stream any data into your table by simply delivering events to an endpoint, such as website signups, Zapier connections, and Typeform answers.
Direct integrations
Clay’s source integrations enable you to pull data from your tools with a single authentication such as querying data from Linkedin or streaming in events from your Segment
Actions
You can either set up or extract from an action on Clay.
Setting up: Pick the needed or optional inputs, enter the authorization (if necessary), and select the preferred integration.
There are three different sorts of authorizations:
- Custom actions (there is no need for an API key or OAuth authorization),
- Integrations with third parties (if you have one, utilize Clay’s API key or your own),
- Database/email integrations (Only a simple oAuth is required).
Extracting from an action: Any data returned by an action can be extracted and stored in a separate column.

- Go to the “+” button to add a column.
- Watch the setup column appear after selecting Formula from the menu.
- Fill in the blanks in your column with fields. A list of the columns in your table appears below the formula box, and to add fields to your Formula, drag or double-click on them.
HTTP API
The HTTP API is designed to make it simple to link your table to any tool or database by submitting a request to a specific endpoint.
Chrome Extension
The Chrome Extension’s purpose is to make the entire internet into a data source, creating a link between platform and browser by allowing you to extract data directly into Clay from any webpage.
